Software Engineer

The Suncorp Group is one of Australia's leaders in banking, insurance, investment and superannuation and focuses on retail customers and small to medium businesses. 

We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our Solutions Delivery, Business Technology area within the MIS (Management Information Systems) Banking Legacy team.  This role will be based in Brisbane CBD. 

The MIS team is primarily responsible for the consolidation of data from our source systems to provide accurate end-user reporting. The majority of the reporting is performed in a mainframe environment. The team is responsible for providing analysis, design, development and production support .

Our primary reporting suite includes servicing the following domains: Finance Reporting, CPR (Sales Reporting including MBR & Inform) and Collection Reporting.

 In this role,  your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with investigations into potential solutions, liaise with relevant technical experts and contribute to solution design and costing.
  • Analyse system requirements and develop technical design.
  • Conform to quality assurance standards and agreed processes within the department.
  • Conform with Change Management practices and adopt our Customer Engagement model.
  • Provide production Support where required.
  • Collaborate with team colleagues on technical Solutions.
  • Participate in and support the rollout of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide input to or develop business systems solutions, estimates and specifications
  • Contribute to on-call and out of hours activities as reasonably agreed in advance
  • Formulate and recommend changes and/or enhancements to Suncorp standard processes
  • Utilise Agile methodologies where appropriate in your work.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and application of IBM Mainframe programming languages and utilities including  SQL Server, DTS, SQL, SAS, JCL, CONTROL-M, ENDEVOR and some COBOL. You will need to have the initiative to resolve technical and business issues with minimal supervision or documentation.
