Risk Consultant - Human Resources

The Role

The Risk Consultant’s objective is to assist the PX function in the application of first-line defence risk management processes. Working closely with the Manager, Risk and Governance you will support Risk accountabilities including operational risk advice, business continuity management and regulatory change. You will use tools, techniques and systems by the Chief Risk Office to influence risk based decision making, risk awareness and a mature risk culture across People Experience. Preferred location is Brisbane - Sydney and Melbourne will also be considered


Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the Manager, Risk and Governance (People Experience), you will be given high level exposure to stakeholders and projects across HR as a whole. Specifically, you will be required to:

  • Coordinate and drive the risk assessment process for leaders during Operational Risk Review cycles
  • Assist Leaders in identifying key controls to mitigate operational risks, and facilitate the testing of identified controls
  • Provide end-to-end assistance across the function in the identification, capturing, closing and reporting of incidents, issues and actions
  • Support risk management training and coaching across the function
  • Facilitate the review and endorsement of project documents by the Corporate Risk Office / Second Line of Defence
  • Coordinate and drive the Business Impact Assessment process for the function annually
  • Perform regular reviews of the Continuity Planner systems, ensuring the accuracy of the Function’s Business Continuity Plans
  • Facilitate the bi-monthly PX Regulatory Change Forum, including setting agendas, taking minutes and maintenance of the PX Regulatory Change Register
  • Participate in risk community activities by contributing Function risks, issues and trends


Skills & Experience

You will be a strong Risk & Governance professional familiar with Suncorp business. To be successful in this role you will also demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce or Risk – Desired
  • Demonstrated capability and experience in risk management – Mandatory
  • Ability to identify, manage and escalate risks where required – Mandatory
  • Professional services experience – Highly Desirable
  • Business Continuity Management experience and Change Management – Desirable
  • High interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong planning and organisation skills
  • Experience of risk management processes, tool implementation and Suncorp’s Risk Management system (IRIIS)
