Senior Financial and Regulatory Accountant

The Financial Reporting and Control (FRC) team provides financial control, reporting and advice services to the Finance Community to ensure strong financial control across the Suncorp Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to the reporting processes timetable
  • Provide accurate and timely completion of contributions to team output, including in relation to the financial statements, left hand note analysis, ASX Appendices and technical memos and position papers and solvency declarations for Suncorp bank entities and other group entities determined from time to time,
  • Assist in the development of Advanced Accreditation reporting and EFS
  • Collaborate with business units, other FRC teams and partner firms to assess and gather necessary information and insights for the purposes of completing regulatory returns and ancillary documents.
  • Prepare work papers that document our interpretation of regulatory requirements and any assumptions or estimates used in the preparation of regulatory returns
  • Review Genpact work in a timely manner and provide well documented feedback on errors and assistance with knowledge gaps
  • Build, develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and ensure time sensitive compliance deliverables are completed successfully.
  • Ensure completeness of inputs required for financial and regulatory reporting disclosure and other deliverables and are sourced from appropriate contributors.
  • Ensure adherence to financial reporting and regulatory reporting timetables to ensure that deliverables are completed successfully.
  • Lead, coach and develop Genpact partner team members, assisting to develop a motivated and high performing team.
  • Assist other teams where required to actively manage peak workloads for half-year and year-end reporting.

Skills & Experience

Qualifications 

  • Degree qualification in accounting or commerce.
  • Chartered Accountant or CPA.

Key Capabilities

  • Deep understanding of ADI regulatory reporting requirements and process (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial statement disclosures, demonstrated either in a commercial environment or in a professional firm.
  • Sound consolidation accounting knowledge.
  • Ability to apply technical accounting skills in a practical manner to achieve problem identification / resolution.
