We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced lead Security Advisor to join our Threat Management team.

The mission of the Threat Management Team is to monitor, detect, assess, defend and respond to threats and incidents in Suncorp’s information systems and environments from both internal and external sources.

About the role

The 2 lead Security Advisors within the team provide lead technical expertise, and are responsible for the delivery of service excellence within one of the streams of the team’s operations:

  • Detections, Alerts, Incident Response, Investigations
  • Hunting, Threat Intelligence, Automation and Orchestration (this position)

In this role, you’ll have responsibility for the following

  • Designing, developing and maintaining a hunting capability (and framework) for you and two Security Analysts. This is a new area for Suncorp and is a chance for you to lead the hunting capability at Suncorp.
  • Assessing and building our automation and orchestration capabilities to improve efficiencies and reduce manual and/or boring tasks.
  • Designing, developing, maintaining, analysing & using threat intelligence and related platforms. This includes information sharing with other banks, financial organisations, and companies within Australia and overseas, as well as intelligence around malware targeting Suncorp Bank.
  • Perform trend analysis of the threat landscape and provide guidance around future requirements. We want you to help provide technical direction for security at Suncorp.
  • Designing, developing and maintaining comprehensive cyber security processes and procedures.
  • Input into and working with many other areas within the team, security department and all of IT.

As the ideal candidate, you will have the following experience

  • Five or more years’ experience in a hands-on IT Security role
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
  • Experience with some or all of incidence response, hunting, threat intelligence, and related tools and technologies is essential
  • Specialised knowledge of the tools, tactics, techniques and processes of attackers is desirable
  • Technical knowledge of enterprise level security platforms, including: Networking technologies, Firewall technologies, Web Application Firewall technologies, data leakage, anti-malware, IDS/IPS, and packet capture technologies.
  • Logging systems and analysis tools (including Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) and forensic tools) (e.g: Netwitness, Splunk, Carbon Black, Darktrace etc.).
  • Knowledge and commercial experience with Linux, Unix, Windows, mobile technologies, cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge and commercial experience with security incident management tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating system and networking concepts
  • Experience with Encryption and Authentication concepts or systems
  • Current knowledge of the Internet and internal threat landscape trends, including malware, hacking tools and a current understanding of the “security research” being carried out by the hacking community.
  • Technical knowledge of infrastructure and application vulnerability assessment tools and a conceptual knowledge of Secure Software Development Lifecycles and common application vulnerability classes (i.e. OWASP top ten).

**Applicants must have the ability to work on a rotational 24x7 on call roster with other security staff.
