Senior Auditor

About the role:

The objective of the role of Senior Auditor is to help deliver high quality audits to assist the organisation achieve its objectives through the promotion of effective internal controls at a reasonable cost

 

More specifically you will:

  • Provide input to the annual Suncorp Group Internal Audit plan to ensure high risk areas are identified. Delivering reliable assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment across Insurance and Customer Platforms, including coverage over the end-to-end risks from product development through to distribution and servicing
  • Perform end-to-end audits, project reviews and special ad hoc reviews in accordance with Suncorp Audit Methodology and professional internal auditing standards within agreed budgets and timeframes, including:

    •  Keep the Audit Manager/Audit Portfolio Manager (APM)/Executive Audit Manager (EAM) informed regarding the status of audits in progress
    •  Review/develop detailed audit scope, program of work, audit tests, audit budget and resource requirements for acceptance by Audit Manager/APM/EAM
    •  Assign audit work to and direct the activities of audit team members
    •  Conduct the entrance meeting at the beginning of each audit, in conjunction with the Audit Manager/APM/EAM or as agreed
    •  Prepare and/or review work papers and risk and controls matrix
    •  Communicate audit findings to business management throughout the audit
    •  Analyse observations and test results to develop audit findings and recommendations
    •  Review/prepare the draft audit observations
    •  Assist in preparing the draft audit report
    •  Present and communicate audit findings at the audit exit meeting
    •  Co-ordinate the finalisation of the audit report with the Audit Manager/APM/EAM.
    •  Manage concurrent audits as required.
    •  Analyse management action plans to ensure that risks will be controlled within the Board’s tolerance levels and follow up audit findings to ensure adequacy and timeliness of correction
    •  Monitor status of audit issues and progress of agreed management action plans and report these to the Audit Manager/APM/EAM
    •  Help drive Internal Audit improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and/or efficiency of audit delivery
  • Maintain appropriate and effective working relationships with business management as part of business liaison responsibility and effective audit management
  • Identify and provide advice to business clients on appropriate internal controls in relation to new and changed products, services, processes and projects within the portfolio
  • Identify legislative and regulatory changes impacting on business and advise the business of any potential impacts on the current systems of internal controls
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Internal Audit function through teamwork, innovation, effective management of services and resources, and input into departmental initiatives.
  • Implement own development plan and share knowledge with team members.
  • Monitor and rectify compliance issues, errors and systemic issues for the purpose of managing operational risk and reporting compliance issues to the EAM.

 

What you will need to succeed:

  • IT control testing experience and CISA qualification desirable.
  • Experience in data analytics audit techniques desirable.
  • Degree Qualification (Accounting, Finance, IT or a related field desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications from professional bodies such as IIA, ICAA or CPA desirable
  • Extensive experience in Financial Services, internal auditing and/or external audit
