Analyst, Investment Administration

About the role

An excellent opportunity to  support the operational requirements of Group Investments and interface between Suncorp and its Custodian and Administrator.

The Investment Administration team is a key enabler and includes cash flow management, rebalancing/switching, custody operations, unit pricing, unit registry, fund administration and transition/implementation activities.

More specifically you will:

  • Conduct a review of liquidity and holding reconciliations between Investment Managers and Custodian and resolve any material differences.
  • Prepare and deliver daily cash flow instruction to the Custodian/Administrator including the provision of investment manager notifications.
  • Monitor liquidity positions in line with Suncorp liquidity guidelines as documented within investment mandates and risk appetite statements, as well as provide notification of events when liquidity levels are breached so a suitable course of action can be determined and implemented by the Group Investment team.
  • Undertake periodic reviews of operational controls and risks including the proposal of key recommendations on how best to mitigate and remedy any identified gaps.
  • Prepare the management fee expense calculations for third party investment managers and custodians.
  • Issue authorised instructions to the Custodian/Administrator for the opening, amendment or closure of accounts held on behalf of Suncorp.
  • Provide investment static data to the Custodian/Administrator and investment managers as fees, rates, portfolios and structures and other investment static data changes including a semi-annual review on the accuracy of investment static data matrices.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of unit prices for all utilised products issued by SPSL, SLSL, and SFPL.
  • Assist in the calculation of investment subsidies arising from material cashflows.
  • Supporting incident rectification and member restitution activities resulting from unit pricing errors.
  • Supporting the resetting of monthly actual tax provisions, and intra month provisioning rates, used in calculating unit prices. This includes reviewing the DTA position of Suncorp entities and proposing changes to capping levels and/ or tax provisioning rates used to Unit Pricing Committee.
  • Calculation of tax credit estimates utilised in unit pricing.
  • Supporting fee and rebate processing for unitised products including reasonableness checks.
  • Identify opportunities to ensure that everything that we do is aligned to our strategic  priorities, including the Marketplace.
  • Assist Suncorp in delivering its strategic initiatives, as required.

What you will need to succeed

  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field (e.g. Finance, Commerce)
  • 5 + years experience in financial services
  • 3+ years’ experience in investment administration either within an Asset Management Organisation or Custodian
  • Ability to engage, seek feedback from and influence investment and finance professionals
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise, multi task and drive outcomes
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Good time management skills and the ability to recognise and keep within scope
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Awareness of investment instruments, portfolio management, asset classes, investment mandates, investment structures and investment management processes. Additionally, understanding how institutional investors, investment managers, and custodians interact
