Principal Business Improvement Coach

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Business Improvement Coach to join the Lean, Automation and Robotics team. The purpose of the role is to lead continuous improvement thought-leadership across the Group in the pursuit of Suncorp’s strategic objectives. You will develop and execute strategies to enhance customer value in high-priority value streams and shape and drive the application of the Suncorp way of working. Being a very experienced Principal Business Improvement Coach, you will lead initiatives, with strategic and business leaders to improve business performance with a focus on delivery of sustainable customer value and building continuous improvement capability across the Group.

Some key responsibilities of the role will include;

  • Contribute to continuous improvement leadership in the pursuit of Suncorp’s strategic objectives
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance customer value delivery across critical value streams
  • Be a role model of continuous improvement skills, principles and methodologies
  • Utilise you innovative & critical thinking to create brilliant customer experiences and an inspired workforce
  • Actively lead strategic initiatives and project teams to deliver sustainable strategic customer value
  • Drive rigorous problem solving throughout the business
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to teams as they solve their own business performance challenges
  • Coach all levels of leadership on how to deliver greater customer value through utilising and enhancing the company’s continuous improvement capability
  • Collaborate with other improvement teams to ensure strategy is aligned to enterprise architecture and customer requirements
  • Work with the leaders and teams to design and implement an integrated approach to continuous improvement in Operations, improvement and transformation initiatives across the Group.
  • Establish credibility as a mentor in continuous improvement and lean, design and systems thinking through leading sustainable business outcomes delivering customer value

As the ideal candidate, you will possess the following

  • Minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience with 12+ years leading relevant continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience formulating and deploying strategy and designing/delivering transformational changes in large corporations
  • University degree and/or significant demonstrated practical experience in application of continuous improvement knowledge and skills
  • Deep knowledge of transformation and continuous improvement approaches
  • Lean Sensei / Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification or equivalent private certification
  • Involvement in Lean Industry Associations (like Lean Enterprise Institute)
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills that will enable you to build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels across the Group. 
  • Strong analytical capability and problem solving skills
  • Change management (e.g. PROSCI) certification or other formal change management qualification
