Delivery Manager, Insurance Technology

About the role

Working in Insurance Technology, you are responsible for a team who support and maintain a variety of applications across the Insurance business. The team is very experienced and there are always pressures to ensure service and performance is maintained as well as being flexible to assist where the business may require technical support. Apart from BAU support, there is involvement in strategic project delivery, compliance and ongoing simplification activities.

If you are the type of person who can adapt to changing circumstances  and priorities, understand the difficulties in having a team responsible for many applications. Focus on cross-skilling, and driving development to attain new skills for new opportunities, assist in removing blockers, representing the team and maintaining team engagement and performance.

Also in the Insurance Technology, there is opportunity to work with many areas of the business as well as working with peer technical teams and leaders across the Group.

As a Delivery Manager, you will

  • Be accountable for the BAU support and delivery of projects within the team's program of work.
  • Ensure that the delivery team purpose and objectives are clearly linked to the broader Group vision, strategy and customer roadmap.
  • Coach and empower the delivery teams to take accountability for delivery, risk and issues whilst utilising lean and agile methods.
  • Communicate effectively across multiple forums and locations, including regular reporting.
  • Application and/or Platform ownership including facilitation of critical incident management and technical roadmaps.
  • Have regular 1:1's with all members of your team, providing regular feedback, along with developing  and coaching your staff.
  • Constantly measure, adjust and improve the performance of your team

The ideal candidate will have the following

  • At least 5+ years in a comparable role (banking, finance, insurance industries would be an advantage).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing a high performing technical delivery team in an Agile environment.
  • People leadership – excellent skills in leading a team including coaching, providing feedback and having performance conversations.
  • Experience within IT operations and application ownership in a large organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable you to build relationships and work in partnership with key stakeholders.
